Bo Sullivan first began his long career at WHYN radio in 1990 as a sports talk show producer. Bo then moved on to become the host of that sports talk show. In 1993, Bo became the sports anchor and co-host for the WHYN morning show. After a few hiatuses, both planned and unplanned, Bo came back to stay in 1996 as the morning show sports anchor, producer, and co-host.
Born and raised in Westfield, he's now raising his own family there. He lives with his wife Kris and daughters Leighanne and Shannon. When Bo was growing up, his father Richard Sullivan was superintendent of schools in two local communities. Politics runs in the family. Brother Brian is a Westfield city councilor and brother Rick is the city's seven term mayor. Besides transporting his children to various activities including CCD and swimming lessons, he coaches both daughters in three different sports. He also works as a part-time political consultant. In his scarce spare time, Bo likes to golf and is a frequent visitor to the Connecticut casinos.
What does Bo like most about his position at WHYN? For one, he's a big fan of waking at 3:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. He also enjoys meeting the many loyal listeners to the show. His lifelong ambition is to open a sports bar and play Texas Hold 'em every day of his life.
And here come the theories…….
And here comes the politics.
It took about eleven seconds for the mayor of New York to start running in place screaming “gun control gun control, gun control!”
And here comes the other group screaming violent videos!
From the left comes the cry,” too much God”!
From the right comes the cry, “not enough God!”
Searching searching searching for answers…and the sad reality is, sometimes …there isn’t an answer.
To many this is unthinkable, and tantamount to weakness, and throwing in the towel.
This time, the shooter was licensed to carry a gun.
And the gun he used, was a shot gun……and this is the gun that the vice president said was acceptable to those who wish to own and or use assault and automatic weapons!
Well, we can sift through Aaron Alexis’ background, history, affiliations, likes dislikes, right down to what might amount to his poor toilet training…and we might find something of value; something interesting or worth examining, in the eternal effort to prevent this kind of mayhem.
And…..we might not.
Because , though we want to find a significant reason for this sort of thing..at the end of the day the reason may simply be highly insignificant…..he was … just…plain…crazy.
Those of the PC set might resent such vulgar patois.
But to say he was somewhat “disturbed” might not do it.
He was another coiled mainspring lurking in veritable societal camouflage.
I’m hearing it all now, he was angry (aren’t we all) he was hearing “voices” (well so do many who do not have a violent bone in their body).
It is perhaps such a scary part of living, that our minds tend to eschew pondering it; and that is, that we share our planet, country, state, city or town with walking time bombs.
And we can only just hope and pray that we are not anywhere near them, when they finally detonate.
So the mayor of New York, and others likeminded can use this to jump up and down and fit it to their agenda of removing the very existence of guns from this society (he’d be better off sticking to the limitation of how much soda you can drink, or something else comparably nutty), others can decry the violent video games that the shooter seemed to be addicted to, or exercise other behavioral limits, perhaps some even yet to be devised…..and we will still be left with the same result.
Somewhere, sometime, somehow, this will happen again.
But it’s the truth.
