Bo Sullivan first began his long career at WHYN radio in 1990 as a sports talk show producer. Bo then moved on to become the host of that sports talk show. In 1993, Bo became the sports anchor and co-host for the WHYN morning show. After a few hiatuses, both planned and unplanned, Bo came back to stay in 1996 as the morning show sports anchor, producer, and co-host.
Born and raised in Westfield, he's now raising his own family there. He lives with his wife Kris and daughters Leighanne and Shannon. When Bo was growing up, his father Richard Sullivan was superintendent of schools in two local communities. Politics runs in the family. Brother Brian is a Westfield city councilor and brother Rick is the city's seven term mayor. Besides transporting his children to various activities including CCD and swimming lessons, he coaches both daughters in three different sports. He also works as a part-time political consultant. In his scarce spare time, Bo likes to golf and is a frequent visitor to the Connecticut casinos.
What does Bo like most about his position at WHYN? For one, he's a big fan of waking at 3:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. He also enjoys meeting the many loyal listeners to the show. His lifelong ambition is to open a sports bar and play Texas Hold 'em every day of his life.
McDonald’s fast food workers are demanding a higher wage!
Was it always that simple?
Can you demand a higher wage?
I’d like one myself!
I always thought adjustments up on wages had many more criteria.
Such as; oh, merit for instance.
Or am I just being old fashioned?
Perhaps quality of service and a work ethic, reliability and drive and ambition might be needed as well!
I know no one wants to hear this, but I suspect these sorts of jobs were never designed to present you with a true living wage.
Or the ability to support a family.
I was always under the impression that these jobs existed to create an entrée into the work force, to give you a credential and d to encourage you to develop some skills and move on!
Move on to something that does provide a “living.”
Don’t get me wrong, this is honorable work, and I applaud and support anyone who does it!
Having said that, let’s be candid, the skill set inherent in flipping a burger, or loading the fry o later is not an imposing or particularly rarified one……
I always believed that those wee the determining factors in determining the value and the corresponding wage.
So, do we support this effort to wrangle higher wages for not so challenging work?
Do we squeeze the management to the point where they either don’t hire new workers?
Cut back existing staffing?
Fast food for thought.
