9/6 The 2008 Connecticut Valley Century (COVAC) Benefit Bike Ride
The 2008 Connecticut Valley Century (COVAC) Benefit Bike Ride is on Saturday, Sept. 6. It starts and ends at the Hatfield Pavilion, Billings Way., Hatfield. This rain or shine event features rides of 100, 75, 50 and 25 miles. Ride Fee is $25 prior to 9/3 - get a free ride T-shirt; $35 on the Day of the ride. Registration/check-in is from 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.. Fee includes cue sheets, SAG stops & snacks, and an after ride Baked Potato with all the fixings. 9/8-9/12 SCI-TECH STEM 21 CRIME SCENE
The High School of Science and Technology will be lifting the STEM 21 Academies with a Who-Done-It crime scene Kick-Off Event. The first-year academy students will participate in a week long investigation, where they will attempt to solve a crime tying in the four academy themes: IT/Film & Media; Engineering; Biomedical/Biotechnology & Forensics; and Business & Finance. Sci-Tech is in the process of looking for volunteer specialists to donate some time to work with the design team as well as present to the students during the Kick Off Week. Any person and/or company volunteering their time will be included in the STEM 21 Academy official press release as well as all promotional advertising (via media coverage, newspapers, radio stations, etc). We welcome you to be a part of our new and exciting program! If you are interested in donating your time and expertise, your prompt response would be greatly appreciated!

9/12 Douglas County FFA Annual Steak Fry
The Steak Fry is one of the FFA's largest fundraiser of the year! The proceeds will go towards State and National FFA conventions, competitions and conferences for leadership and career education experiences. The Annual Steak Fry is on Friday, September 12th before the homecoming football game. They will be serving from 5:00 p.m. to game time at Douglas County High School in Castle Rock. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door for an 8 oz. sirloin, rolls, salad, potato and desert. Please join and support the future of agriculture and FFA! 9/13 The School Bus Project
Stone Soup Concrete is hosting another benefit for the Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School to continue to raise money to purchase a bus for the children's fieldtrips and convert it to run on vegetable oil. The event features local bands: Unit7 and Dad, Come home!, and plenty of local libations will be available. 9/13 The Reel Blues Fest
Members of some of the biggest bands to come out of Massachusetts will appear in force when The Reel Blues Fest heads to the handicap accessible Academy of Music (274 Main Street) in Northampton at 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, to help raise funds for musicians’ health care and first-time filmmakers. The Kramer-Montgomery Band, featuring Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer and James Montgomery, headlines this spectacular event with Grammy-award winning blues harpist James Cotton, guitarist Jay Geils, Rolling Stones horn section The Uptown Horns, and surprise guests. 9/21 3rd Annual Our Sisters Golf Tournament
On Sunday, September 21st the Third Annual Our Sisters Golf Tournament to benefit the Jimmy Fund will be held at Franconia Golf Course and Veterans Folf Course. Following the golf there will be a BBQ with live music, a DJ, and a silent auction at King's Philips Stockade open to both those who golfed and those who did not. The prices are $360 per team and $95 per playerand includes golf, golf cart, lunch, dinner, and gift bag. The price for the BBQ for non-golfers is $50 per person. Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell and the Catholic School Board Trustees cordially invite parents, alumnae, teachers (former and present), and friends to attend.
