Xiarhos: "They Do So Much- They Ask So Little"

Springfield police and lawmakers are showing support for a new law that would establish a fund for retired police dogs.

Republican State Representative Steven Xiarhos from Barnstable filed legislation for the bill called Dakota's Law.

It's named in honor of a K-9 that responded to the Boston Marathon Bombing.

Xiahros says K-9s should be treated like heroes when they retire and have funds to access for medical bills and other needs.

The bill is pending before the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security and representatives hope Democrats and Republicans will come together to pass the bill.
