Thunderbirds Playoff-bound With Home Win

The Springfield Thunderbirds have one chance at home this weekend to make the Calder Cup Playoffs. They will play the always tough Hershey Bears. After the game they will head to Lehigh Valley for Saturday night.

The Thunderbirds are on the brink of a playoff spot. They have 80 points in the Atlantic Division and the magic number is three to make it in.

There are a variety of ways that will get the Thunderbirds in the playoffs.

The simplist way is for Springfield to win and for tonight's Bridgeport at Hartford game to end in regulation with a winner. That would get them in.

But that isn't the only way.

Springfield also clinches a playoff berth tonight with:

a win vs. Hershey AND a Bridgeport OTL/SOL at Hartford, OR

an OTL/SOL vs. Hershey AND a Bridgeport regulation loss at Hartford

The game at the Mass Mutual Center is set for 7 tonight.

And, if you can't make it the game will be here on Newsradio 560 WHYN.
