Three Charged In UMass Procurement Case

Three people are being indicted in connection to an alleged procurement fraud scheme at UMass-Amherst.

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey's office alleges that John Strycharz, a former full-time supervisor at the school who oversaw hazardous materials remediation, intentionally hid that he had a secret ownership or financial interest in a Ludlow-based company owned by Victor Rodrigues.

The A.G.'s office says millions of dollars' worth of work was awarded by UMass to the company, Compass Restoration, without the connection being disclosed.

The office also alleges Michael McGoldrick, who took over some contractor oversight from Strycharz, accepted illegal payments.
