Registry Takes Heat In Oversight Hearing

The Registry of Motor Vehicles apparently stopped processing alerts about infractions by Massachusetts drivers in other states last year.

At a legislative hearing yesterday, former RMV head Erin Deveney testified that she was told of the unaddressed alerts earlier this year.

It was months before a state driver was accused of causing a crash that killed seven people on motorcycles in New Hampshire.

That driver was arrested for drunk driving in Connecticut in May.
