Officials are to begin searching a large pond in western Massachusetts for the body of a teenager who disappeared more than 20 years ago.
The search comes a day after authorities announced that a man serving a life sentence for killing two children is also responsible for the death 16-year-old James Lusher. The youth was last seen leaving his home for a bike ride in 1992.
Hampden District Attorney Mark Mastroianni said at a news conference that Lewis Lent Jr. confessed to killing Lusher, known as ''Jamie.''
The prosecutor said Lent gave investigators great detail about Lusher's death, including where to find his body.
State Police Col. Timothy Alben said investigators will begin searching a large pond in Becket on Tuesday. He said the pond is 88 square acres and 58 feet deep in some places.
The DA says it is possible that there are more deaths that Lent could be connected to but he did not elaborate as to specifics.
